Why
I love music so much that I am a DJ.
It is reflected in my own music tastes, my knowledge of music overall and my music collection - CD's AND vinyl!
Also, through my children's interest in music, the live shows and concerts I attend, and the way I feel when people are having a great time as I'm playing music!
When
In 1996 I was invited to attend the Wallaceville House Bridal Show purely on how I had DJ'd at a wedding there.
The management at the time told me they had seen dozens of DJ's play and none had played as effectively, without being loud,
with such variety and good taste as I had in that one night. Since then I have even improved on that!
I have done this by consistently asking my regular venues on how I can improve the design of my sound system and lighting.
Also from the feedback they get from their clients and their guests about the night and regularly investigating and keeping up to date with new technology, and through personal development.
Oh - and I have been part of the Bridal Show every year since then!
Experience
I average 42 weddings each year and although the reception may be at similar venues, they all have different dynamics and not just with music.
Time of year and weather play a part, the ceremony is often at a separate venue and therefore times vary for dinner etc.
I can give a good and honest indication of what, how and when things may happen from your scheduled start time, usually 6pm, right through till the end of the night.
Music
Well, it is part of our everyday lives and of course is a massive part of any wedding.
I have a huge library of CDs with way more than one or two from any artist. Be mindful however that I can physically play only about 16 songs per hour!
I will be proactive in managing the music you want by our finish time.
I also have a Top 90 list of songs that I play most often.
Not a list from an American website or the NZ Top 50 but familiar songs that everyone knows and will dance to!
As well as that I have a list of 'First Dance' songs. This may be of help in choosing your own First Dance or
possibly songs for your ceremony or the cutting of the cake. Once again it is a list that I have compiled over time,
through experience. It is current and of course features a lot of New Zealand music too.
I have a clever way of interacting with your guests when it comes to requests - I'll tell you about it when we meet.
Another way is to ask for a song choice when you send out your invitations.
But more importantly it is about the music you want, so let's start with you and then your guests and I'll put it together so it all makes sense.
How
If you are holding your ceremony in a garden (or similar) I have a battery-powered speaker system that is also able to have two microphones plugged into it.
It's a great solution above your "ghetto blaster" and having to shout your vows!
Then at the reception I use Bose speakers to deliver a beautiful sound for your speeches, dinner music and dancing.
My package always includes lighting - though you may choose to have very little or none at all- and I match this to the venue in most situations.
Once again I will show you what I have beforehand and you can choose.
All of what I use to deliver music, speech and lighting is professional, top end equipment - no compromises - and I have full back up myself for any scenario.
